Workshops

MIIC hosts a variety of workshops, run by our Community of Experts. Past workshops include Advancing Intercultural Skills in Business, and Advancing Intercultural Skills for IROs. These workshops involve interactive activities designed to help you develop your intercultural skills and address specific issues within your institution. We can develop a workshop based around your needs and support you through a wide range of topics. 

World Expert Series

MIIC’s World Expert Series program brings expert academics from the USA, Europe, and Australia to Central and Eastern European universities to deliver workshops on internationalization and intercultural communication. For more information on our 2025 World Expert Series, click here. 

Evaluation Services

We can provide evaluations and quality assurance to guide your institution through internationalization and the Internationalization of Curriculum (IoC). This involves a 3-stage process to support university leadership and university stakeholders in mapping, benchmarking, and strategy. 

Stage 1: Mapping

Establish where your institution is and facilitate discussion around your new vision with university stakeholders using Appreciative Inquiry. 

Stage 2: Benchmarking 

We create a detailed report on your Internationalization Strategy with a detailed didactic analysis of study courses and programs benchmarked to quality criteria. 

Stage 3: Strategy Design

Develop a new institution-wide internationalization strategy or focus on Internationalization of Curriculum, including a comprehensive capacity-building plan for your institution. 

Professional Learning Communities

Do you need to tackle complex challenges and realize innovations? Engage academics in internationalization? Improve teaching and design international programs? Create welcoming joint campuses and degrees with your partners?

MIIC will support you in setting up and facilitating Professional Learning Communities to develop novel solutions to your challenges. 

We do this in 2 ways:

  1. Building a tailored package to set up and run a PLC at your institution: We will design a PLC for you based on your needs and facilitate or support you in facilitation of the community. 
  2. MIIC’s Masterclass: we hold an intensive course for PLC Facilitators, to build their competencies and confidence to set up and run their own communities. This Masterclass is run in collaboration with Swiss National Agency for Swiss universities.

World Expert Series

The World Expert Series is a yearly program which brings experts from within the MIIC network to universities across Central and Eastern Europe.

In 2026, we are offering 27 workshops spanning 8 topics. These highly interactive sessions can be in the form of one-day or half-day practical workshops. These workshops are co-designed and co-facilitated by Eva Janebova, Ph.D. who has 20+ of experience in international education in Central Europe ensuring that all concepts will be transferable to the Central European context.

Strategic Engagement
Institution-wide Internationalization Strategy – Charles University

MIIC supported the development of a comprehensive, institution-wide internationalization strategy for Charles University. The consultancy focused particularly on the Internationalization of the Curriculum and on systemic approaches to internationalization across the institution. The process was led by Prof. Milena Králíčková in close collaboration with the university’s senior leadership, ensuring strong strategic alignment and institutional ownership.

Internationalization at Home Consultancy – Comenius University

Prof. Harvey Charles conducted a targeted consultancy with the Vice-Rector and the Director of the International Office at Comenius University. The engagement aimed to advance the university’s “Internationalization at Home” agenda and to support the development of a truly global campus experience for students and staff.

Joint Doctoral Degree Design Support – Palacký University

MIIC provided expert support during the design phase of a new joint doctoral degree programme in Law and Digital Technologies at Palacký University. The consultancy focused on the development of an internationalization strategy for the programme, ensuring its academic coherence, international attractiveness, and long-term sustainability.

Evaluation and Quality Assurance
Evaluation of Global Faculty-Led Programs – Mendel University

MIIC supported Mendel University in evaluating proposals for global faculty-led initiatives, including short-term study abroad programs and international internships. The evaluation focused on academic quality, learning outcomes, and the international and intercultural dimensions of the proposed curricula.

Benchmarking Evaluation of English-Taught Programs – Comenius University
MIIC conducted a benchmarking evaluation of English-taught study programs across Comenius University. The assessment mapped and benchmarked program quality with a particular emphasis on the international dimension of curricula. The evaluation provided the university with a deeper understanding of quality program design and effective teaching practices in international and multicultural classrooms.

MIIC experts have also delivered benchmarking evaluations of the internationalization of curricula for Masaryk University and Charles University. These evaluations supported institutional efforts to enhance curriculum quality, international relevance, and student learning experiences.

Masterclass on Driving Change Collaboratively: Facilitating Communities of Practice – Swiss National Agency Movetia
A five-month masterclass was designed and delivered for Swiss universities to support current and future facilitators of Communities of Practice (CoPs), also referred to as learning communities, in the context of internationalization and institutional development.

Description
Universities today face complex challenges shaped by rapidly evolving academic landscapes and geopolitical uncertainty. These challenges include internationalization, enhancement of teaching excellence, the development of inclusive joint campuses, and innovation within European University Alliances and cross-border partnerships.
Communities of Practice provide a collegial, structured yet flexible framework for bottom-up change. They enable professionals to share expertise, foster mutual learning, and collaboratively address institutional and cross-institutional challenges. Well-facilitated communities support professional development, inclusive collaboration, and sustainable international cooperation.
Duration: June 2024 – January 2025
Format: Blended (in-person and online)

Masterclass Aim
This intensive masterclass equips participants with the competencies, confidence, and practical tools needed to design, facilitate, and sustain Communities of Practice within their institutions or alliances. An international mentoring team shares extensive experience from academic communities across Europe and the United States.

  • Explore key features of Learning Networks and Communities of Practice.
  • Learn how to design, establish, and facilitate inclusive and collaborative academic communities.
  • Acquire strategies to support Internationalization at Home (IaH).

Recruiting and Engaging International Students - Czech National Agency (Study in Academy)

This interactive workshop addressed a key dimension of higher education internationalization: recruiting and effectively engaging a diverse international student body. While increasing international enrollment brings significant opportunities for intercultural learning, meaningful interaction between domestic and international students does not occur automatically.
Workshop Focus
Drawing on firsthand student experiences, the workshop explored practical strategies to foster engagement and interaction among diverse student groups in both physical and digital learning environments. Participants examined how intentional pedagogical and institutional approaches can enhance intercultural learning outcomes.

Critical Lenses on Concepts within Internationalization - DAAD

This workshop provided participants with a critical understanding of current and emerging concepts in international higher education. It examined how institutions can navigate and operationalize evolving approaches to internationalization in response to global change.

  • Critical internationalization as a lens to examine institutional and disciplinary cultures
